This exotic island has much to offer, from inspirational spirituality to fine dining, diving to exhilarating treks in the wild. And everywhere you will find intricately carved temples. For, the Balinese, who embrace the Hindu religion, are a most devout people where a large part of their lives is dedicated to rites and ceremonies aimed at maintaining harmony in this world. Indeed, this relatively small island holds many surprises.
Day 1: June 15 – Arrive Bali – Upon arrival at Bali’s airport in Denpasar (DPS), you will be met by your guide and driver for the week and transfer to the hotel about 1 hour away.
Since being discovered, the area of Ubud has always been highly regarded by the Balinese for its immense spiritual powers. Even the term Ubud is derived from the term Ubad, meaning medicine in reference to the traditional healing properties of the array of plants that randomly grow here. Ubud is a spiritual town in the heart of Bali, a retreat for those seeking peace of mind, clarity of thought and inspiration in the arts, culture, dance and music. Healing, comfort, nature and inspiration create the Ubud area.
Kepitu Village is just a ten minute drive from Ubud and has a wealth of historical heritage and ancient temples. Telaga Waja temple is one of the temples in this village built in the 10th century the Meditation place of Buddha Kasogatan and the followers, now a place for purifying rituals and blessings. After a long flight this day is at your leisure to relax, enjoy the hotel spa, pool and tranquil relaxing environment. Kayon Resort for 4 nights. The hotel offers daily yoga which you may wish to partake in during your stay. Welcome dinner and dance show tonight at the hotel. (D)
Day 2: June 16 – Cooking class, Kayan village, Jungle trek. After breakfast you will head to a cooking school to learn the Balinese way of cooking using traditional Balinese spices, vegetables and other ingredients for your cooking class. After you have created a unique Bali inspired dish enjoy lunch on your own creation.
Back at the hotel enjoy your included massage, the pool and relax to get on schedule. Later in the day enjoy a guided enjoy a jungle trek and a visit to the culture village of Kayan. This evening is at your leisure to enjoy in town. (B, L)
Day 3: June 17 – Monkey Forest, Temple Taman Ayun, Ulun Danu Temple and Bedugul Botanical Garden,Tanah Lot Temple – After breakfast visit the first of many splendid temples Bali is famous for The Royal family Temple Taman Ayun at Mengwi. The function of Taman Ayun Temple is a place to pray the god in their manifestation. It is according to the content of Babad Mengwi and the existence of temple building structure, especially the temple that is located in third area (Jeroan). According to Astadewata, the special God is worshiped in Taman Ayun Temple is the God in manifestation as a Wisnu God which his palace located in top of Mangu mount.
Next pay a visit to some of the many monkeys that reside in Bali. The “Holy Monkey Forest” walk through this home to hundreds of monkeys, trees and scenery. Here you may have the opportunity to feed them bananas or peanuts.
Your next stop is the Ulun Danu temple on the lake with the surrounding botanical gardens. A truly majestic site to explore.
Your guide will take you on a tour of the artist town of Ubud the cultural hub of the island. Famous for it’s wood carvings and crafts this local village is also the site of a few famous movies. “Eat Pray Love” is one of them. Enjoy shopping at the local crafts markets filled with clothes, handbags, jewelry and so much more. Later you will drive to a surrounding town for some more shopping on a different scale. Next a visit to one of the many beautiful rice fields Bali is known for. The Tegalalang rice field. Views of the terraced rice field offer a perfect photo opportunity.
This evening enjoy a sunset view from the famous and one of the most splendid temples in Bali “Tanah lot Temple”. Perched atop an enormous rock, it is completely surrounded by the Indian Ocean during high tide. Dinner at your leisure tonight. (B, L)
Day 4: June 18 – Elephant park – After breakfast you are treated to a unique excursion at the Elephant park as you enjoy a hands on experience with the elephants, you will enjoy taking a ride on the elephants if you so choose, a truly unique experience. Enjoy these amazing creatures up close and personal. After lunch at the park head back to the hotel. This afternoon you have the option to enjoy the hotel spa, a purity bath or enjoy the town of Ubud some more. Dinner at your leisure this evening in town or at the hotel. (B, L)
Day 5: June 19 – Check out from the hotel and head to port for a fast boat trip across the bay to Nusa Lembongan Island. Bali is famous for it’s beaches and islands. A trip to Bali would not be complete without a visit to one of these beautiful destinations. Upon arrival transfer to your beach front hotel for a relaxing, gorgeous and scenic stay. This after is at your leisure to enjoy the resort, pool, many beautiful beaches or the town as you choose. Enjoy dinner at one of the many local restaurants. Lembongan Beach Club for 2 nights. *Please note rooms at this hotel are on a single basis only no room share. (B, D)
Day 6: June 20 – Snorkel trip, Kayak or Paddle Board – After breakfast head out on the boat for 3 different snorkel stops at some of the areas most amazing coral reefs. Enjoy the underwater views of fish and coral as you take in the under water scenery. You will also enjoy a stop at the mangrove area and choose to either kayak or paddle board through the scenic mangroves. Enjoy a picnic lunch today while relaxing on the glorious waters of the Indian Ocean. Back at the hotel unwind at the spa or pool. Evening at leisure (B, L)
Day 7: June 21 – After breakfast depart by boat back to the mainland. Your driver and guide will then take you to your next Balinese temple the Pura Besakih Temple. The biggest and “Mother” of all temples with views down to the ocean and beyond.
Bali’s “mother temple”,Besakih temple, is over 900 metres up the slopes of Gunung Agung. It has been regarded as a holy place since pre-historic times in Bali. The first recorded mention of its existence is from an inscription that dates from 1007 A.D. Since the Gelgel dynasty of the fifteenth century it has been regarded as a central, holy temple for the entire island.
All the allegiances of the Balinese people come together at Besakih. Each regency has its own temple within the over-all compound, as do each of the caste groups. There is a total of 18 separate sanctuaries. The three main temples are : Pura Penataran Agung, Dedicated to Sang Hyang Widi Wasa: Pura Kiduling Kreteg, dedicated to Brahma; and Pura Batu Madeg, dedicated to Wisnu.
Next we visit the Ujung Water Palace. The Ujung Water Palace is a beautiful park with a big fish pond that surrounds the old Karangasem. The Empire heritage building which was used by the Karangasem’s King for day relaxation ora meeting place in their era.
You now head to your last stay just outside the town of Ubud which is an easy walking distance to the hotel or take the shuttle to town. The Tjampuhan for 2 nights. Dinner this evening at your leisure. (B, L)
Day 8: June 22 – Ubud – Today visit the holy water temple of Tampak Siring and have a purification ceremony, a unique Balinese experience. A basket of offering flowers and incenses will be provided to you, and afterward you continue to visit the beautiful peaceful village of Pengelipuran and than back to the hotel. Enjoy one last massage at the spa and relax from your week before heading home tomorrow. Farewell dinner as group in town tonight. (B, D)
Day 9: June 23 – Departure Day – After breakfast depart for the Denpasar airport for the return fight home. Please note many flights leave later so you can check out and keep your luggage at the hotel while enjoy the spa, pool or a visit to town. (B)
