Why You Should Try a Solo Female Travel Group

Friday, October 28th, 2016

Traveling is one of the most rewarding experiences life has to offer. To experience another culture, another atmosphere and way of life, is akin to expanding a part of the soul. The mission of Women Traveling the World is to extend travel opportunities to women who don’t have a travel buddy in their lives so that they can experience all the richness that travel has to offer. We believe that nobody should be held back from travel just because they are hesitant to travel alone. So, here’s why you should throw hesitation out the window, be adventurous, and try a solo female travel group.

Solo Female Travel Groups Provide Safety

One of the main reasons women may be hesitant to travel alone is fear of being vulnerable in an unfamiliar place. We’ve all seen the headlines or heard the stories that proclaim it is unsafe for women to travel alone in foreign countries. While we wouldn’t say that traveling alone will definitely put women in harm’s way, we understand the worry. A great benefit of solo female travel groups is that they allow solo women to take the trips they’ve always wanted while traveling with a group. This puts a lot of minds at rest about appearing vulnerable. Traveling with a group also means not having to worry about not speaking the native language or getting lost. There’s strength in numbers, and we’ve found that traveling in a group empowers many women to take the adventure they’ve always dreamed of.

The Guidance Provided  is Invaluable

Coming up with an itinerary for a foreign country on your own is daunting, to say the least. Some people simply don’t want to spend hours looking at travel sites and determining the sights that are most worth visiting. Solo female travel groups will provide a predetermined itinerary that will lay out all the best things to do without you having to do any of the work. Travel guides will have visited the destination many times before and know all the best spots to hit before it’s time to go home. The best part? While an itinerary is set beforehand, these types of groups often offer optional excursions for extra fun, so you can customize your trip to do only the activities you want to participate in.

Making New Friends

When you travel with a group of solo female travelers, friendships are inevitably made. The women in these groups are adventurous and fun- and they all have something in common- that sense of wanderlust that can’t be stifled. Imagine going on a hike in the breathtaking mountains of New Zealand– then taking a gondola ride to Mount Ngongotaha and stopping to have a glass of wine with your new travel buddies. The bonds made on these trips last lifetimes because the shared experiences create such wonderful memories.

The goal of Women Traveling the World is to get women to shed their fears of solo travel and get out there and see the world. Don’t let your lack of a travel buddy stop you from experiencing the beauty that other countries have to offer! We offer trips all around the world, so we know there’s something for everybody. Take a look at the current trips we have available and start looking forward to your next adventure!

Magnificent places to visit in Morocco

Friday, October 14th, 2016

If you ever get the chance to visit Morocco, there are some wondrous places that you will definitely not regret visiting. Rich in history and culture, Morocco is no stranger to telling great stories among its people. Here are the most magnificent places to visit while traveling Morocco.

The High Atlas

This beautiful mountain range area is home to a small community of homes that are placed along the mountain’s bumpy structure. This area acts as the bridge between the heat of the lower area and the snowy mountains. The snow moves down to the village in the winter, providing a unique shift throughout the seasons.

Agadir

We often go to Morocco during the winters, and for good reason. Take a look at Agadir. This city is home to beautiful beaches, vacation resorts, mountain plains and villages. This is the ideal location for starting your Moroccan tour since it is a base for tourism and introduction to the Moroccan land.

Fez

The largest, car-free area in the world, this former capital of Morocco is a cultural powerhouse. Filled with beautiful spots such as the Medersa Bou Inania, the Batha Museum, and the Habarim Synagogue, this land is a beautiful maze of history. Just be sure not to go without a travel agent; it very easy to get lost in.

Merzouga

Merzouga desert

Merzouga is the serene desert town that allows for quiet yet astounding scenery. Looking very much like a scene from the movies, Merzouga’s town has a fairy-tale sense of royalty; it’s amazing sand dunes are complemented by its clear bodies of water.

Chefchaouen

Up in Morocco’s Rift Mountains lies the cool-colored gem, Chefchaouen. This town is literally painted a bright sky-blue, giving it a dream-like personality. Chefchaouen offers a unique opportunity for Tourists to be introduced to their culture, since it is hard not to be taken by its sheer beauty and serenity.

The key to fulfilling travel in Morocco (as is with any country), is to dive in and live amongst the people and environment. You have to learn to see what life is like here; how different and similar is it from your own home? Take in the pleasures and lifestyle of the people you meet. Perhaps these acquaintances can become good friends. One thing is for sure; at the end of it all you will come home with a new appreciation for the world’s cultural beauty.

The Temples of Bali

Monday, August 22nd, 2016

On our fabulous 10-day vacation to the Indonesian island of Bali, we will have the honor and the privilege of being able to experience the stunning temples located there.  Also known as the Land of the Gods, there is nowhere better to transcend on a spiritual journey of self-discovery.

Pura Taman Ayun

Pura (meaning temple) Taman Ayun is among one of the most famous and picturesque temples in all of Indonesia.  The temple does not stand alone, and features a lush and impressive garden.  It is located in the Mengwi district of Bali and is one of our first stops on our trip.

Tanah Lot

The Tanah Lot is a temple located right next to our first hotel, the Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Resort.  A sacred rock formation, Tanah Lot is not only a popular tourist spot and cultural icon, but a place of pilgrimage, and a lovely way to see the sunrise right above the Indian Ocean.

Pura Ulun Danu Bratan

This temple, also known as the “floating temple” is located on Lake Bratan.  It is a Hindu temple surrounded by the mighty mountains near Bedugul and it was established in 1633 in honor of the Balinese lake and river goddess Dewi Danu.  Lake Bratan was and is a main source of irrigation in central Bali, and to experience a temple of such importance and grandeur is truly inspiring.

Uluwatu Temple

The Uluwatu Temple, also known as the Pura Luhur Uluwatu, is the final temple on our spiritual journey.  This temple is located in the Kuta South district of Uluwatu and is one of the Sad Kahyangan.  The Sad Kahyangan are the six holiest places of worship in all of Bali, so this is a temple that you really don’t want to miss.  It is dedicated to the supreme god of Indonesian Hinduism known in Balinese as Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa and many other countries as simply Acintya.

The opportunity not only to see all of these temples, but to be so constantly surrounded by them and be able to feel their presence in the communities around them is a once in a lifetime experience.  To be in touch with such profound spirituality is a unique treasure that is limited to only certain places in the world, and Bali just happens to be one of them.

Beautiful Bali

Monday, August 8th, 2016

Looking for an exciting fall excursion with a group of fun and adventurous women? At Women Traveling The World, we can take you to parts of the world that you’d never dream of going to, at a price you’d never dream of getting away with. In October, come away with us to the stunning coasts of Bali, Indonesia.

Housing Accommodations

Our housing accommodations for this trip are, in and of themselves, a once in a lifetime experience. For our first two nights in Bali, we’ll be staying at the gorgeous Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Resort. This resort is not only nestled in Bali’s southwest coast, but it’s area is so large that there are 13 temples located on its grounds. Next up, we have the Puri Lumbung cottages. This is a real treat, as you will be able to stay on your own cottage, located on stilts just above the water’s edge. This little getaway bungalow on the sea is nothing short of paradise. Once we depart for Ubud, we will come to the Tjampuhan hotel, which we can feel lucky to call home for four nights. When we’re not going on our elephant excursions and exploring the local crafts markets, you can feel free to relax to your heart’s content at the hotel’s incredibly relaxing stream-side spa, or clear blue pool.

Excursions

All costs for excursions, cultural events, and entrance fees to sights and museums are all covered under the trip fee, and you will be amazed at how much you get for so little. Throughout our journey, we will get to enjoy a wide variety of wild life. Snorkeling off the coast of Menjangan Island, riding elephants in Ubud, and feeding monkeys in the Belimbing village will allow you to get up close and personal with the thousands of species of animals that call Bali home. You’ll also get to experience the more spiritual side of Bali as we explore the island’s virtually ancient wonders of the world: their temples. In addition to their breathtaking temples, you will have the opportunity to meet with an authentic Balinese healer, an experience you’ll surely never have the opportunity to have again.

For the single woman traveler, it can be unappealing to imagine experiencing so many exciting new things alone. That’s why so many women have begun traveling with women just like them, who want the most out of life and who want to experience the trip of a lifetime. Barcelona’s Breathtaking Architecture

Monday, July 11th, 2016

Barcelona is one of the most heavily trafficked cities in the world. Its bustling city, pristine beaches, and unique arts scene makes it a must-see destination for anyone traveling the world. Barcelona has some of the most beautiful and inspired architecture in the Western world, due largely to its pride and joy Antoni Gaudi who is famous namely for Park Güell, Casa Batlló, and the Sagrada Familia. Gaudi was inspired by natural forms and that shines through in all of his work. To get a closer look at this man’s work, travel to beautiful Barcelona.

Park Güell

Park Güell, completed in 1914, is a public park that consists of a series of gardens and interesting yet playful architectonic forms. The park was commissioned by Eusebi Güell, who delegated the design of the park to Gaudi who employed his signature style of twisted, natural forms and crushed tile. The park is located in the La Salut neighborhood in the Gràcia district of Barcelona and qualifies as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Casa Batlló

An apartment building located in the heart of Barcelona, Gaudi redesigned the building in 1904 and it has been consistently refurbished and maintained ever since. Locals refer to Casa Batlló as Casa dels Ossos, or House of Bones, due to its organic look and how it mimics an animal’s skeletal form. A very devout man, Gaudi believed in intelligent design, and thus that God designed the world perfectly. To design anything that was not inspired by natural forms, and thus by God, showed tremendous pride, asserting, presumably, that you think you can create something more perfect than the creator himself. Casa Batlló takes inspiration from natural forms in the curved hump at its top (often compared to a dragon), and its gill-inspired rain shutters on the upper level. Allowing for a lot of natural light to shine through it, the building conveys a sense of oneness with the other natural beings on our planet and is a must see for women traveling the world.

Sagrada Familia

Gaudi’s great unfinished masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia, a gorgeous basilica whose groundbreaking ceremonies took place all the way back in 1882, is an absolutely necessary site to see for women traveling alone. Though constant construction is being done on the building, the dripping towers and stunning stain glass windows make the massive structure seem even more powerful and godly than it is. A testament to Gaudi’s faith and to his art, the Sagrada Familia is the ultimate in Modernist architecture.

For your next trip, consider traveling with us all around Spain. Barcelona is just one part of the vacation, and if you’re looking to travel with a group of women that you can have a great time with, contact Women Traveling The World to find out more information today!

The Obvious (and Not So Obvious) Must-List for Rome

Monday, May 16th, 2016

The capital of Italy and a wonder of the Ancient World, Rome deserves to be marveled at.  With its rich history, sensational cuisine, and breathtaking scenery, Rome is at the top of bucket lists around the world, and there are so many reasons why.

Historical Sites

One of the most unique things about Rome is the way that old and new, ancient and modern, are constantly interacting with one another.  Some locals still give directions by referring to places as either inside or outside of “the walls”, referencing the ancient walls built by emperors who lived centuries before us, which are still standing today.  Common attractions like the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and the Pantheon may seem touristy and overpopulated, but they’re so popular because they are ceaselessly breathtaking.  The sheer enormity of the Colosseum, the views from the top of Palatine Hill, and the delicate perfection of the Pantheon all make for a beautiful day of sight-seeing in Rome.

The Vatican

Though technically its own country, the Vatican is a must-see destination if you’re traveling in Italy.  Thousands of people, both religious and secular, visit the Vatican every day either to pay respect to the Pope or simply to observe its beauty and grandeur.  It may seem daunting to see so many people rushing into what is essentially one large building, but the wait is worth it.  Visitors cannot only experience the intensity St. Peter’s Basilica, but can bask in the tranquility of the Sistine Chapel, observing the finest of Michelangelo’s works.

Cuisine

Tasting the best food that Italy has to offer isn’t difficult because delicious food is all around you.  Of course one has to try the classics: pasta, pizza, gelato, the list goes on, but what about cooking the food for yourself?  It may seem too good to be true, but Italian locals are actually willing to teach tourists how to cook their food!  A quick internet search can yield great results when trying to find a chef to apprentice, and the best part is that they’ll welcome you inside their home with open arms.  What better way to experience the freshest, most authentic Italian food than to have a hand in making it?

There are so many amazing things to do in Rome that it can seem daunting to try to plan a trip for yourself.  Especially if you’re traveling alone, making decisions about what to see and what to do can be tricky, so let us do it for you!  Book your tour to Italy today and join a group of fabulous women just like you who are ready for their Italian adventure.
